The ideal seating position, given the curve of the screen, is about 13.7 feet away. This is a little farther than is ideal for most people to see the additional resolution of Ultra HD, but it’s close enough that you can still see excellent detail (and likely more than if this had been a 1080p TV).
Tech info was scarce, but Samsung promised that the U9500 will have HDMI 2.0, MHL 3.0, and the next-gen copy projection scheme of HDCP 2.2. This is largely due to the TV using Samsung’s “One Connect” box, which is the separate input box many new high-end Samsung TVs have.
Typically, I’m a projector guy, eschewing TVs for a projector and huge screen. TVs like the U9500 hint that it’s possible projectors might not be too long for this world, at least in the home, given how much brighter (and able to handle room lights) huge TVs are. Well, once huge TVs like this one get a lot cheaper.
Samsung is saying “second half of 2014” for availability. Price hasn’t been announced, but you can expect it to be the opposite of cheap. Forbes
